Seiichi MOTOHASHI, Movie director and photographer

Motohashi has been photographing and filming in Chernobyl and affected area since 1991, and has won awards from the Japan Association of Photography. He has also won many awards for his movies “Nadja’s Village” and “Alexei and the Spring”.

6/30 Sat

Nadja’s Village

Language: Russian, with Japanese subtitles

''Nadja's Village'' is about a girl and her family in a Belarus village near Chernobyl devastated by radioactive pollution, where only 6 families remain. Through the lives of these strong and spirited people, deeply rooted in a natural world that is as beautiful as it is harsh, we learn what true wealth is.

7/22 Sun

Alexei and the Spring

Language: Russian, with Japanese subtitles

In the village of Budische, Belarus, everything from the school ruins, fields, and woods to wild mushrooms is tested for radiation levels but not the local spring. “Why? Because this water is 100 years old,” the villagers say proudly. During these past 100 years, what kind of wealth have we been seeking? This gushing spring, proof that Earth is the water planet, is a tranquil reminder of the true nature of wealth.
